Daniel Alan Gordon- Formal Work Experience


 Artist, Berkeley Heights, NJ;  Present
 a. sculpture  featuring use of marquetry
 b. wood cut prints utilizing traditional block carving techniques as well as 
     new process using scroll sawn techniques.
 c. Oil and acrylic paintings.  New paintings on plywood supports use  
     collage like techniques which feature use of veneer details     


Woodworking Teacher-Mahwah High School, Mahwah, NJ;  2003-Present
Direct and teach introductory, intermediate and advanced furniture making and cabinet making
courses.  At all levels of instruction students are taught how to use creative elements alongside 
traditional joinery and fundamental woodworking techniques. Student projects range from
small decorative boxes to queen ann styled coffee tables. Students learn and practice basic
joinery, inlay and carving techniques at all levels of instruction.   



Cabinetmaker/Manager - Pollaro Custom Furniture, East Orange, NJ; 1995-2003

Worked as a cabinetmaker specializing in projects that involved marquetry and inlay techniques. 
Served as shop manager and project coordinator.  



Cabinetmaker/Owner - Daniel Gordon Custom Woodwork, Chatham, NJ;  1988-1994
Built and designed custom woodworking projects specializing in inlay and marquetry projecets.
Accepted private commissions and displayed  woodwork, featuring original marquetry designs at 
American Craft Council and other juried art and craft shows.  Sold and displayed work in galleries
in New Jersey and New York.
